Roman Days of the Week

The modern English days of the week actually borrow heavily not only from Roman influence, but from Saxon influence as well. Thus, many of the English days do not match the Latin equivalent.

Dies Solis - Day of the Sun - Sunday

Dies Lunae - Day of the Moon - Monday

Dies Martis - Day of Mars - Tuesday

Dies Mercurii - Day of Mercury - Wednesday

Dies Jovis - Day of Jupiter - Thursday

Dies Veneris - Day of Venus - Friday
